Citizen Police Academy Class Applications Now Available
/Applications for the 7th Rocky River Citizen Police Academy Class are now available at the Rocky River Police Department, by email to Lt. Lichman (glichman@rrcity.com), or via Facebook Message!
The CPA will be held at the Rocky River Police Department from 6:30 PM until 9:30-10:00 PM for 14 Tuesdays starting January 24, 2017 and ending with a graduation ceremony on Tuesday, May 2, 2017. (There will be no class Tuesday, April 18, 2017 during Spring break).
Topics include RRPD Special Services, an overview of the Municipal and Common Pleas courts, crime prevention, Internet safety, domestic violence, firearms, use of force, police legitimacy and procedural justice, drug abuse, and more!
The goals of the CPA are to provide a basic understanding of the operation of the Department, to provide insight into police work, to provide a clearer understanding of a citizen's role in assisting law enforcement, to help citizens feel comfortable communicating with police and City officials, and to strengthen the partnership between the police and the community.
Applicants must be 21 years of age or older, have a high school diploma or GED, be a resident of Rocky River, work in the City, or otherwise be a member of the Rocky River community, have no pending criminal charges or civil cases, no felony convictions, and have personal character consistent with community standards.
Applications are due no later than Tuesday, December 20, 2016. Space is limited; applications will be considered in the order they are received.
