The Rocky River Citizen Police Academy was established in 2011 by former Chief Kelly Stillman and is coordinated by Chief George Lichman.
The Academy began as an eight week program with the goals of:
Providing a basic understanding of the operation of the Department
Providing insight into police work
Providing participants with a clearer understanding of their role in assisting law enforcement
Helping participants feel comfortable communicating with police and City officials
Strengthening the partnership between the Department and the community.
The Academy has grown to up to sixteen weeks of study and includes topics such as:
Special services
Internet safety
Domestic violence and stalking
Juvenile crimes
Drunk driving
Legal issues
CPR
Drug abuse
Mental health issues and law enforcement
Crime prevention
Firearms safety
